Step into the Orangery at Llandough Castle for our four-week mini morning school series: Mornings in Bloom
We will be teaching a range of skills and practical, hands-on lessons to give you plenty of confidence when it comes to creating magic with flowers. Tea, coffee and biscuits provided, along with tools and sundries. We will also be sharing with you a wonderful branded tote bag at your first session, containing our hand-picked floristry starter kit - including a pair of professional Niwaki scissors (worth £42). Full price includes all 4 x sessions.
Autumn Term 2025 Dates:
Week 1: Wednesday 15th October - 10:00am-1:00pm (*longer introduction session)
Week 2: Wednesday 22nd October - 10:00am-12:00pm
Week 3: Wednesday 29th October - 10:00am-12:00pm
Week 4: Wednesday 5th November - 10:00am-12:00pm
Location: All classes will be held in the Orangery at Llandough Castle, nr Cowdbridge (CF71 7LR)
Brief Course Outline:
Week One:
- Welcome chat and introduction
- Lesson: How we source our inspiration and ways you can too
- Lesson: Understanding flowers & foliage
- Lesson: A brief introduction to foraging and how you can incorporate this into your practice
- Lesson/Practical: The importance of conditioning flowers and how to do this correctly for longevity
- Practical: You will create a vase arrangement and smaller, complimenting bud vases (you will take home the vase arrangement)
Week Two:
- Lesson: The importance of sustainable floristry and how to incorporate this into your practice
- Lesson: Sustainable Floristry Mechanics and our tools - all key items we use from chicken wire and trumpets to frames and twine. What they look like, how they work and where to source them!
- Practical: creating compote bowls and centrepieces (you will take home your compote bowl)
Week Three:
- Lesson: How to choose flowers for an arrangement - shape, texture, colour, longevity and seasonality
- Lesson: A florist’s guide to creating the perfect hand tied bouquet. From planning and preparing your stems, counting them based on price, to arranging them in a spiral and tying with string. You’ll also learn how we gift wrap our bouquets sustainably.
- Practical: You will create a hand tied piece from beginning to end and gift wrap it to take it home. A little piece of homework here would be untying and re-tying again when you get home to practice! Practice is key.
Week Four:
- Lesson: Working to a brief and working in teams
- Practical: You will be given a brief and tasked with creating a large urn display in pairs, in our signature Wild & Fabulous style. (You will take home the flowers used).
- Photography session & farewell gift
